Community Nursery School
4K Program
Rooted in a commitment to high-quality early childhood education, our 4K classrooms are warm, nurturing environments where every child is loved, valued, and celebrated. Through play-based experiences that spark curiosity and joy, students build a strong foundation for lifelong learning while growing socially, emotionally, and academically.
Beginning with the 2026–2027 school year, Community Nursery School will embark on a new chapter as part of the
State of Wisconsin’s Get Kids Ready initiative; becoming a tuition-free, independent 4K program.
Our Team
Meet our 4K Team!! Our CNS 4K classrooms are staffed by a dedicated team of DPI-licensed teachers and assistants. Every member of our 4K teaching team holds a bachelor’s degree in education and a current Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction teaching license, reflecting our commitment to high-quality, professional early childhood education.
What We Teach
At Community Nursery School, our 4K program is designed to support the whole child through developmentally appropriate, play-based learning. Our curriculum focuses on building foundational skills that prepare children for kindergarten while honoring each child’s unique pace, interests, and strengths.
Social & Emotional Development
Children learn to build friendships, express emotions, follow routines, and develop independence and confidence in a caring classroom community.
Early Literacy
Through stories, songs, rhymes, and hands-on activities, students develop listening skills, early reading & writing skills, vocabulary, and a love of books and language.
Early Math & Problem Solving
Children explore numbers, counting, shapes, patterns, and measurement through play, games, and everyday classroom experiences.
Science & Discovery
Curiosity is encouraged as children observe, ask questions, explore nature, and learn about the world around them through hands-on investigation.
Creative Expression
Art, music, movement, and imaginative play give children opportunities to express themselves, build creativity, and strengthen fine and gross motor skills.
Approaches to Learning
We nurture curiosity, persistence, cooperation, and a positive attitude toward learning—skills that support success both in school and beyond.
